At the opening of SUPERMODEL last night, curators Annie Han and Daniel Mihalyo of Lead Pencil Studio announced the winners of the Student Architectural Model Competition. The Grand Prize winner was Cory Mattheis of the University of Washington. He received a $1500 prize for his model, Social Patterns: Individuality + Architecture. There were three Honorable Mentions: Juan Lau (Woodbury University), Hunter Ruthrauff (Cal Poly Pomona), Christopher Sklar (University of British Columbia), Alan Tse, (University of California, Berkeley). All of the Honorable Mentions received $250 prizes.
SUPERMODEL is a two-part exhibition presents models of recent projects from Portland-based Allied Works Architecture along with the winning results of a juried student competition from degree granting architecture programs in the Western US and Canada.
